Viet food is trending and getting more mainstream folks!

Co-worker told me about this place. I had no clue there was a legit Pho place beyond I-20 besides Pho Dai Loi by the airport. This was our second visit to So Ba, means Number 3 in Vietnamese. First time we had Pho and it was legit for being so far from the typical Asian areas like Buford and Duluth. But in our opinion, I would rather drive a little further and hit up Pho Dail Loi #1 if you already south of I-20 for Pho and other Viet dishes.

This doesn't mean that So Ba is not worth a try when in the area. We know that each person's taste is different.

This time around, we bought some Pho to go while we tried out the Bo Luc Lac (shaken beef) and Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio (viet rice vermicelli w/ grilled pork and egg roll).

On a side note, this place turns into a second restaurant at 11PM, called Octopus Bar. We’re too old go try this place since it’s so late at night. http://octopusbaratl.com/menu/

Check out our review of these items in the picture captions.

Bo Luc Lac – beef was tender and had a nice glaze that’s expected from this type of beef preparation. Unfortunately, the sauce was a little over powering and salty to our taste. The fried rice option was a soggy compared to normal Viet fried rice. Since the sauce and beef was added on top of the fried rice, it was over powering the rice itself. Maybe white rice would have been a better choice, if it wasn’t soggy too. The pickled carrots and cabbage was a welcoming sweet and sour taste.

Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio – the grilled pork was sweet and was on point. The chao gio, egg roll, had a weird sour taste to it that Elly didn’t care for. She’s a Bun addict and pretty much ate all the noodle with lots of grilled pork left over. A big factor is also the house made fish sauce mix, which was properly done and not overly salty.
